Why I wrote these notes

I spent twenty-four years in the orchestra pit of the grand cabaret on Boulevard de Clichy, playing trumpet and managing the stage. When I retired in 2024, the same questions kept coming: dinner or champagne-only, which seats actually see the geometry of the chorus line, and how to find a taxi after the 23h house empties onto the boulevard. These notes are my honest answers, drawn from professional experience rather than marketing copy.

Tips from twenty-four years in the pit

  • The second house (21h) is the one the dancers themselves prefer: brass is warm, the crowd is loose.
  • Left-side floor tables have the best angle on the chorus-line formation.
  • The balcony gives you the full picture but you lose the intimacy of feathers and sequins.
  • Come on a weekday to avoid the weekend tour-group crush.
  • Metro Blanche, line 2 — the exit is directly on the square.
